Pubs Valued Within Our Communities

It is of interest that advice within Local Government has confirmed that public houses and bars can be listed as assets of community value (ACV).  This provision is provided under the Localism Act 2011 and Assets of Community Value (England) Regulations 2012.

The documentation released to Local Government confirms within its notes that the Communities and Local Government Committee has recommended that the Government include ACV listings as a material consideration for all planning applications.  This will create further hurdles to be surmounted in respect of applications to convert existing public houses into residential or retail use.
